Oilers Blanked by Clemente in 1-0 Setback at Missouri

Tulsa Oilers News Release

TULSA, OK - The Tulsa Oilers threw everything they had at Mike Clemente on Monday night and it wasn't enough. The Missouri goaltender turned aside all 35 Oilers shots as Tulsa fell 1-0 to the Mavericks on New Year's Eve at the Independence Events Center.

Tulsa outshot the Mavs 14-5 in the first period but neither goaltender, Clemente nor the Oilers Shane Madolora, showed any chinks in the armor.

With the Mavericks on a second period power play, John Scott Dickson directed a pass across the Oilers crease that banked off the skate of Ryan Jardine and underneath Madolora for the game's only goal. Madolora, who turned in another terrific performance in the Tulsa net, was sensational in the second period as he stopped 22 of the 23 Missouri shots he faced.

Clemente continued to shut the door in the third and the Oilers were blanked for the third time this season and the third time in the month of December. Oilers left wing Ben Gordon led all skaters with nine shots on net while Tulsa defenseman Sean Erickson was credited with six shots.

Tulsa dropped its tenth straight road game and finished a disastrous December with a record of 2-11-1. The Oilers have yet to win a game this season when trailing after two periods.

The Oilers begin 2013 with a January 4th contest at Allen at 7:05 p.m.
