Ohio Machine News Release

FRISCO, Texas- After winning a 14-12 nail biter at home earlier this season, the Ohio Machine were on the other side the table Sunday night, falling 17-16 in the final minutes to the Dallas Rattlers in Frisco, TX.

The Machine (2-7) found themselves down 3-0 within the first four minutes of the game. However, Ohio battled back, and added two goals on the man advantage from attackmen Connor Cannizzaro and Justin Guterding.

Late in the quarter, Kyle Bernlohr made a save and fed midfielder Tyler Pfister. Pfister took it coast-to-coast and buried it top shelf to tie the game at 3-3. Rattlers defender Matt Dunn responded put Dallas ahead 6-3 with a goal and a two pointer. But going down only motivated the Machine. A pair of goals from Marcus Holman exactly one minute apart ended the first quarter with the Sheens down 6-5.

A little more than a minute into the second quarter, attackman Peter Baum would tie the game at 6-6, but Dallas (7-2) would answer with a pair of goals on their next two possessions to go up by two. The teams would then trade goals before the Machine rattled off five straight goals before the halftime break, with Holman scoring three and assisting on one. Holman headed into the half with five goals and three assists, and the Sheens found themselves with a 12-9 lead.

Out of the break, the teams traded a pair of goals, with Ryan Keenan scoring, and Holman scoring his sixth of the game. With the goal, Holman became the first player in franchise history to have two games of 6+ goals in a single season. Midfielder Davey Emala and Guterding added goals to take a 16-12 lead into the fourth quarter.

But that's where Dallas took control. Dallas rattled off five straight goals to go ahead 17-16 and take the game.

The Machine return home next weekend to face the Denver Outlaws in a rematch of the 2017 Major League Lacrosse Championship. The Sheens announced last week that the team will debut their special black alternate uniforms and ask all fans to wear black. Faceoff is set for 6:00 p.m.

In addition, fans who purchase the Blackout Package (which includes four tickets and four black machine hats) to the June 23 game prior to June 21 will receive a black machine hat and be entered in a raffle to receive either a Marcus Holman or Peter Baum signed black alternate player tee (will be winner's choice)!
