Offensive streak continues, Jackrabbits roll on road

July 2, 2016 - Prospect League (Prospect)
Kokomo Jackrabbits News Release

TERRE HAUTE, IND. - It might be only two games into the 2016 Prospect League second half, but field manager Matt Howard and the Kokomo Jackrabbits have got to like the view.

For a second successive night away from home, the Gold and Brown's bats came out in full force, hammering 13 hits, three of which were for extra base hits including a pair of triples, to back up a solid start from Baldwin-Wallace University's Evan Lovick as part of a 7-4 win against the Terre Haute Rex Friday, July 1.

Lovick worked through the home side line-up with efficiency throughout seven innings on Bob Warn Field at Sycamore Stadium. He struck out three, allowed only two free passes and was nicked for just two earned runs. Kokomo's bullpen, after a recent rough patch, showed strong numbers again, as Butler University's Sam Hubbe and Millersville University's Matt Ulrich only gave up one run over the final two frames.

At the plate, outfielder Griffin Harms of Wayne State University, Mitch Stoltzfus of Millersville University, Caleb Stayton of Ball State University and Cole Nieto of Baldwin-Wallace University all finished with multiple-hit efforts. Harms and Stoltzfus tallied three each, while Stayton and Nieto had two hits, and Stayton drove in three runs.

The two-game set concludes Saturday, July 2. First pitch is 7:05 p.m.
