 Barrie Colts

Offensive Outburst Propels Frontenacs to a 3-2 Series Lead

Barrie Colts News Release

After a pair of wins on home ice to even the series up the Kingston Frontenacs would march into Barrie carrying that momentum and skate to a convincing 7-1 win Thursday night.

The series will swing back to Kingston tomorrow night for Game 6 at the Rogers K Rock Centre as the Colts now down 3 games to 2 face a must win situation to force a Game 7 back in Barrie.

The Frontenacs would continue where they left off jumping out front early in this one and wouldn't look back. After a first period that would see the two teams skate neck and neck for the majority of the period, Kingston would build a late four goal lead and prove to be the difference.

Just over a minute in two former London knights would connect as Cliff Pu skating down the right wing slid a pass through the crease for Max Jones to tap in at the side of the Barrie goal to make it 1-0.

The Colts would turn it up with back-to-back shifts peppering Jeremy Helvig in the opposing end but the stern offense from Kingston would shift the play the other way and Gabirel Villardi would finish it off putting the Frontenacs ahead by 2.

Just past the midway point of the first, the Colts would get back within one.

Tyler Tucker would fire a pass off the side boards right to the tape of Jason Willms at the right side of the Kingston goal banging in the one timer for his 4th goal of the playoffs.

The momentum would be short lived though as the Frontenacs potent attack would add three into the Barrie goal by Brett Neumann, Jason Robertson and Villardi would grab his second of the game to give Kingston a commanding 5-1 lead into the intermission.

In the second not much else would go Barrie's way as the Frontenacs would increase the lead with goals by Sean Day to begin the middle frame and Matt Hotchkiss would round out things out with a 7th marker for the Fronts.
