Offensive Explosion Leads Providence over Binghamton 6-2

Providence Bruins News Release
Providence, RI - The Providence Bruins defeated the Binghamton Senators Friday night 6-2 at the Dunkin Donuts Center behind two-goal performances from Peter Mueller and Danton Heinen. Zane McIntyre was recalled from Atlanta before the game and got the start in his first game with Providence since October 21.
The teams played fairly even throughout the first period, but it was the Bruins who struck first. Though they were out-shot 13-10, Providence took a 1-0 lead at 12:41 mark of the first period while on the power play. Heinen set up just inside the circle and sent a wrist shot high glove side past Chris Driedger to give the P-Bruins the lead. Mueller and Alex Grant picked up the assists on Heinen's goal, which was his sixth of the season.
Providence wasted little time extending the lead, as just 21 seconds into period number two Mueller snuck one by Driedger for his fifth goal of the year. Colten Hargrove and Wayne Simpson set up the goal with nice assists and the Bruins held a 2-0 lead.
Phil Varone finally got the Senators on the board with a power play goal at 8:44, but the baby B's stopped their momentum right there. While shorthanded, Heinen stole the puck from Binghamton and netted his second goal of the night stick side high at 13:33. The unassisted goal made things 3-1 Bruins and marked his seventh of the season. Shortly after, Simpson scored his sixth goal of the season at 18:04 that Mueller set up beautifully with a cross ice pass. Hargrove picked up the secondary assist as Providence led 4-1 into the second intermission.
The Bruins continued to pour it on in the third, as Mueller made things 5-1 at 6:57 with his sixth goal of the year and second of the night. Heinen and Jacob DeBrusk set up Muller all alone in front of the net as they picked up assists on the play. The final nail was put in the coffin at 17:17, as Sean Kuraly stole the puck and scored a breakaway, shorthanded goal for his first of the year. Chris Casto picked up the assist on Providence's second shorty of the night that made the score 6-1.
Chris Rumble snuck one by Zane McIntyre to make it 6-2, but McIntyre was otherwise stellar in his first game back from Atlanta. McIntyre stopped 31 of the 33 shots he faced for his second win of the season.
