Montgomery Biscuits News Release

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Biscuits (44-41, 7-8) were held scoreless through eight innings before falling 3-1 to the Tennessee Smokies (42-40, 8-5) in the rubber-match on Wednesday night at Riverwalk Stadium.

A.J. Morris (3-0) tossed six scoreless-innings while getting help from three double-plays. Kevin Rhoderick and Zac Rosscup (2) combined to throw the final three innings.

Rosscup allowed one run in the ninth inning off an infield single from Riccio Torrez. With runners on the corners and the Smokies leading 3-1, the lefty was then able to strikeout Robby Price and get Hector Guevara to fly out to end the game.

Tennessee scored first with an RBI-single from John Andreoli in the third inning. Christian Villanueva and Justin Bour had solo home runs in the seventh and eighth innings respectively to make it 3-0 Tennessee.

Jake Floethe (1-3) threw well despite getting tagged with the loss. He scattered 8 hits and allowed two runs through seven innings.

The Biscuits will open a five-game series with the Mobile BayBears Thursday night. RHP Jake Thompson will be on the hill for Montgomery while Mobile will have RHP Bradin Hagens on the mound. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05 from Hank Aaron Stadium.
