Offense Comes to Play in Big Win over Greensboro

Augusta, GA - The GreenJackets (11-13) defeated the Greensboro Grasshoppers (8-16) Sunday afternoon at Lake Olmstead Stadium by a final tally of 8-4.

The GreenJackets continued their trend of scoring early in games, striking twice in the first inning. A wild pitch by Greensboro starter Kevin Guzman allowed Jalen Miller to score, and Seth Harrison singled in Dillon Dobson for the second run.

The Grasshoppers scored in the forth inning, and took the 3-2 lead in the fifth, but Augusta struck twice more, with Ashford Fulmer coming around to score off a Jalen Miller sacrifice fly, and Lucius Fox scoring the go-ahead run off a Dobson single to put the GreenJackets up 3-2.

The offense wasn't done, as a fielding error by Josh Naylor brought in Fox and Miller in the 8th inning to put the GreenJackets up 8-4.

Tyler Cyr picked up his second win in relief, pitching 2.2 innings and Ryan Halstead picked up his second save.

Augusta's next home game will be Monday, May 2nd at 7:05pm. Gates will open at 6:00pm. It's the conclusion of the homestand for Augusta, and it's Feed Your Face Monday, Dos de Mayo - South of the Border Night! All-You-Can-Eat Hot Dogs, Hamburgers, Little Caesars Pizza, Popcorn, Peanuts as well as specialty items.

The probable pitching matchup is yet to be determined for Greensboro. Michael Santos (1-2, 4.35 ERA) will start for Augusta.
