Odorizzi Named MWL Pitcher of the Week
August 30, 2010 - Midwest League (MWL1)
Wisconsin Timber Rattlers News Release
GRAND CHUTE, WI - Jake Odorizzi has been named the Midwest League Pitcher of the Week. The right-handed Brewers prospect was honored with the award today for his performance in a no-hitter at Cedar Rapids on August 24. Two of Odorizzi's teammates have won the Offensive Players of the week in 2010, but Odorizzi is the first Wisconsin player to win the pitcher of the week since Wily Peralta won in late May of 2009.
Odorizzi pitched eight no-hit innings and struck out 10 Cedar Rapids Kernels last Tuesday at Perfect Game Field. He walked one and hit one in the victory. Adrian Rosario concluded the no- hitter by getting the final three outs. The 10 strikeouts for Odorizzi matched a career high in a game for him. He also picked up the win, his seventh of the season.
Outfielder D'Vontrey Richardson was named the Offensive Player of Week last Monday. Outfielder Khris Davis won the Offensive Player of the Week Award on June 28.
Odorizzi is scheduled to start on Tuesday night when the Timber Rattlers host the Kane County Cougars at Time Warner Cable Field. There is also a bobblehead giveaway of Odorizzi scheduled for Thursday night. Earlier this summer, fans voted on the Rattlers website and selected Odorizzi to be the bobblehead giveaway on September 2. Game time for both games is 6:35pm.
Tickets are available for Tuesday's game, Thursday's game, and for the other two games remaining on the current homestand. Tickets may be purchased one of three ways: On-line at www.timberrattlers.com, over the phone at 800-WI-TIMBER, or in person at the Time Warner Cable Field Box Office.
