NWHL Preview: Beauts Host Riveters in First Game After All-Star Break

What Is the NWHL? The National Women's Hockey League is the first professional league to pay women to play hockey. The 2015-16 season marks the inaugural campaign for this four team organization and has been extensively covered worldwide.

This game features several Olympic-level players including Team USA stars Meghan Duggan and Brianne McLaughlin, Getzville native and All-Star captain Emily Pfalzer and Japanese sensation Nana Fujimoto.

Game Details:

Buffalo won its second straight meeting at New York on January 17th, staging a three-goal third period comeback before emerging victorious in the shootout. Kourtney Kunichika scored two goals, while Brianne McLaughlin made 18 saves in relief. She was named the NWHL's Player of the Week as a result.

Last weekend, Beauts captain Emily Pfalzer led her team to a 9-1 victory in the first ever NWHL All-Star Game on Sunday afternoon in front of 1,200+ fans at HARBORCENTER. Teammate Kelley Steadman was named the game's Most Valuable Player.

The Riveters acquired goaltender Chelsea Laden in exchange for Sheane Lundberg on Wednesday, marking the first trade in NWHL history.
