Visalia, CA. - A big second inning sent the Modesto Nuts to a 9-2 loss against the Visalia Rawhide in the rubber game of a three-game set on Wednesday night at Recreation Park.
Parker French (L, 6-7) surrendered five hits to the first six Rawhide (14-19; 60-43) he saw in the second inning. Michael Perez roped a RBI single. Galli Cribbs drove in two with a triple off the center field wall. Zach Nehrir banged a RBI single to drive in the fourth run of the inning. A Forrest Wall error allowed the final run of the frame to cross.
Overall, French went five innings for the Nuts (13-20; 39-64) allowing eight hits and six runs, four earned, with two walks and four strikeouts.
Joel Payamps (W, 3-3) shut down the Nuts' offense over seven innings allowing just one hit and only two unearned runs with nine strikeouts and one walk.
