Modesto Nuts News Release

Modesto, CA. - Four errors and 15 hits doomed the Modesto Nuts in an 8-1 loss to the Bakersfield Blaze on Sunday night at John Thurman Field.

Austin Wilson took Nuts (12-18; 38-62) starter Jack Wynkoop (L, 3-2) deep with a solo home run in the second inning.

Two Forrest Wall errors lead to a pair of unearned runs in the fifth. An RBI fielder's choice in the seventh added to the Blaze (20-10; 57-43) lead. The Blaze tacked on three more in the ninth to put the game way out of reach for the Nuts.

Wynkoop worked six innings and allowed four runs, only two earned, with three strikeouts and no walks.

Anthony Misiewicz (W, 6-8) worked five frames and allowed just a RBI double to Shane Hoelscher. Misiewicz struck out three and walked none.

The Nuts open a three-game set against the Rawhide on Monday night at John Thurman Field at 7:00 p.m. Coverage on ModestoNuts.com will start at 6:55 p.m. Listen live online.
