Spokane Chiefs News Release

SPOKANE, Wash. - Viktoria Beck is going to take a page out of Numerica Credit Union's book and give back to others. With each Spokane Chiefs goal scored this season, Numerica Credit Union put $10 into a pot (capped at $2,500) to give away at the end of the season to one lucky fan. Last week, Beck was selected as the recipient of the Numerica Power Play Giveaway.

"I am going to buy my boyfriend's tools that he needs for his school program," Beck said.

"I am also going to donate to the Humboldt Broncos GoFundMe. It was definitely very sad. I am going to do at least that."

After looking out for others, "maybe put some to my rent" she added.

Beck's newfound cash prize comes after a season as a brand new hockey fan.

"I actually didn't get into hockey until this year when my boyfriend and I started dating. I ended up being dragged to a game and absolutely fell in love with the sport," she said.

"I got the phone call on Thursday. I'm wondering, 'is this real, is this a joke?' Then I got real excited and it's pretty cool.

"I just heard about the Numerica Power Play Giveaway when I was playing on the Spokane Chiefs' app one day and thought 'OK, let's try it!" I didn't expect this."

This is the second season that Numerica and the Chiefs have teamed up to provide one fan with a major prize. Last year, Numerica paid Chiefs fan Mirtha Campos' mortgage for a month through a sign-up-to-win contest.

As for Beck's favorite players, "Definitely Zach Fischer, definitely Riley McKay. I like the tough guys."

Chiefs fans will have another opportunity to win next season with another Numerica and Spokane Chiefs fan giveaway promotion. Stay tuned at spokanechiefs.com for details as the 2018-19 campaign gets underway.
