Colorado Eagles News Release

DALY CITY, Calif. - The Colorado Eagles defeated the San Francisco Bulls, 5-1, in the first of two games in as many nights at the Cow Palace. The win was the Eagles' first on the road this season, ending a club record eight-game winless streak away from the Budweiser Events Center. Chad Costello scored a pair of goals and Kyle Jones stopped 29 of 30 shots in the victory.

The Eagles out-shot the Bulls 11-4 in the first frame and got the period's only goal by capitalizing on a two-man advantage midway through. Costello, the ECHL's reigning Player of the Month, got the goal and in the process added to his league-leading point total when he snapped a shot past Thomas Heemskerk from the high slot.

The Bulls out-shot the Eagles, 15-10 in the second period, but Jones made several big stops and had his efforts bolstered by a productive Colorado offense that scored three times in the frame. Ryan Schnell made it 2-0 with the team's second power-play goal of the game when he picked up a rebound while skating through the crease with just four seconds left in the man advantage.

The Eagles doubled that lead in a span of three minutes later in the frame to take a 4-0 lead into the third period. Seconds after Jack Combs rocketed a shot off the goal post, Jake Marto found Costello in the left circle for a one-timer into the Bulls' net. That goal was followed up with a deflection tally by Teegan Moore from the slot, off a feed from Kevin Ulanski in the right circle.

Early in the final frame, Eagles defenseman Cody Sol was charged with a four minute double-minor for high-sticking, and Jordan Morrison was able to get the home team on the board during the second half of the man-advantage with a shot inside the far post from the right circle.

But San Francisco's comeback efforts the rest of the frame was stymied by the Eagles. And in the final minute of play Schnell pushed Colorado's lead back to four by converting on a breakaway for his second score of the night.
