FARGO - A three-run first inning staked the Fargo-Moorhead RedHawks to a 4-2 win over the Edmonton Cracker-Cats at Newman Outdoor Field.

After Edmonton had taken a 1-0 lead in the top of the first, Fargo-Moorhead scored three times in the bottom of the inning. Jesse Hoorelbeke and Eric Kofler his RBI-singles, and Allen Mottram delivered an RBI-double. Mottram had three hits in the game.

Todd George (4-0) pitched and one-third innings, scattering five hits and one run, to earn the victory.

GARY - The Gary SouthShore RailCats used one of the wackiest innings in team history to rally from behind and defeat the Kansas City T-Bones 8-5 at U. S. Steel Yard.

The RailCats scored three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to break a 5-5 tie. The only batted ball that left the infield in the inning resulted in a triple play and brought in a run.

Nathan Haynes began the bottom of the eighth with a walk and Brad Vericker followed with a bunt single. Haynes and pinch runner Alex Taylor pulled off a double steal and Andy Rohleder walked to load the bases. Kansas City reliever Caleb Balbuena then issued back-to-back bases loaded walks to Chris Curry and Eric McNamee to force in two runs and give Gary a 7-5 lead. Jay Pecci then hit a fly ball to center that was caught by Greg Jacobs. Rohleder tagged at third and scored, giving a the Railcats an 8-5 lead, but Curry was thrown out trying to advance to third and McNamee was out trying to advance to second for a triple play.

Travis Kerber pitched a perfect ninth inning for his fourth save. Kris Regas (1-0) earned the win with one and one-third innings of scoreless relief. Ryan Tauscher (0-1) took the loss.

The RailCats scored in the first inning on a run-scoring single by Tanner Townsend but fell behind in the third when Charles Peterson connected on a three-run home run. Brandon Jones hit a solo home run in the top of the fourth to give the T-Bones a 4-1 lead.

Gary started back in the bottom of the fourth on a solo home run by Nathan Haynes and took advantage of two Kansas City errors to score three unearned runs in the sixth to take a 5-4 lead. The T-Bones scored a single run in the seventh on an RBI double by Eddie Pearson to tie the game at 5-5.

JOLIET - Chad Ehrsnberger homered twice to lead the Joliet JackHammers to an 8-6 win over the Winnipeg Goldeyes at Silver Cross Field.

Ehrnsberger's two-run shot off Winnipeg starter David Glick (0-2) in the first inning gave Joliet a 2-0 lead. Ehrnsberger's second two-run homer of the game, in the seventh inning, scored what turned out to be the deciding runs.

J.D. Foust hit a pair of doubles and scored two runs for Joliet.

Goldeyes catcher Aaron Mendoza batted 3-for-4, including a two-run homer in the eighth that brought Winnipeg to within three runs.

The Goldeyes added one more run on Fehlandt Lentini's RBI-single, but Joliet closer Amad Stephens came on to strike out three of the four batters he faced and record his fifth save.

CALGARY - Chris Weekly hit a three-run homer and Blake Williams pitched six strong innings to lead the Schaumburg Flyers to a 9-7 victory over the Calgary Vipers at Foothills Stadium.

RBI-singles by Eric Cole and Josue Lopez had given Schaumburg a 2-0 lead before Weekly broke the game open in the second inning with his three-run blast off Calgary starter Javier Ortiz (2-2).

Nelson Gord batted 3-for-5 with 2 stolen bases and 2 runs scored for Schaumburg. Gord also hit a two-RBI single in the seventh inning that put Schaumburg ahead 9-1.

Williams allowed one run on six hits over six innings, striking out eight, in his first appearance since May 22.

The Vipers scored six runs against the Schaumburg bullpen over the final three innings, but reliever Nate Cotton struck out the Vipers Carlos Duncan, with the tying runs on base, to end the game.
