Nájera Debuts at Home on November 28

August 30, 2012 - NBA G League (G League)
Texas Legends News Release

FRISCO, TEXAS, August 30, 2012 - Since Eduardo Nájera opens his coaching career on the road at Tulsa on Nov. 23, Texas Legends fans will need to wait until Nov. 28 to see the first Mexican-born NBA-affiliated coach in action. The Legends and their new head coach will return to Dr Pepper Arena to face the defending D-League champion Austin Toros in a two-night series, with both games at 7 p.m.

"I am excited to be a part of Eduardo's debut on the sidelines," Legends owner Donnie Nelson said. "Our fans do not want to miss this historic night as Eduardo and the Legends break through yet another barrier."

Six of the Legends first 10 games are against in-state rivals, including three home games against the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, Dec. 1, 15 and 16. If the Legends can get off to a strong start against Austin and Rio Grande Valley, they'll be in the pole position as they pursue their third straight Skillet Cup Championship. The Skillet Cup annually goes to the Texas-based D-League team with the best record against the other two Texas teams.

The Legends will get comfortable in Dr Pepper Arena at the end of January, with a five-game home-stand reaching from Jan. 25 to Feb 5, featuring five different opponents. That stretch is the longest home-stand for the Legends, followed by a four-game stand from Feb. 9 to Feb. 13, with only a trip north to face the Iowa Energy separating the two stints.

The Legends 2012-13 season concludes with back-to-back home games against the Springfield Armor on April 5 and 6.

The D-League has also announced the Legends may appear on national television up to 12 times this season.

The D-League has partnered with CBS Network to broadcast 12 regular season games, including two from the NBA D-League Showcase, as well as the Showcase Slam Dunk Competition and 3-Point Competition, playoff games and the NBA D-League Finals.

Reaching more than 46.3 million households, CBS Sports Network broadens the national exposure for the D-League and the Legends. The 12 games to air on the network will be announced at a later date.

The Legends will have the majority of their games broadcast on local television.
