Kokomo Jackrabbits News Release

July 1,2016-LAFAYETTE, IND. - Indiana University - Southeast's Clay Benefield and Baldwin-Wallace University's Cole Nieto delivered back-to-back RBI singles in a three-run ninth inning comeback, sending the Kokomo Jackrabbits past Lafayette 8-7 Thursday, June 30.

The last-inning rally began with a one-out single by IU-Southeast's Logan Barnes and Millersville University's Mitch Stolzfus' safety with two outs followed by a wild pitched that plated Barnes. University of Missouri's Alex Del Rio, pinch running for Stoltzfus, scored on Benefield's single, and Ball State University's Caleb Stayton came in with the eventual winning run on Nieto's base hit.

The outburst was part of a big offensive effort throughout the evening at Loeb Stadium. Illinois State University's Ryan Hutchinson and Stoltzfus tallied three hits each with Hutchinson driving in three runs, too.

On the mound, Kokomo's staff compiled 11 strikeouts. The University of Missouri's Ryan Lee, starting for the Gold and Brown, tallied eight of them over four and two-thirds frames.

The Jackrabbits resume a three-game road trip with back-to-back match-ups against Terre Haute Friday and Saturday, July 1 and 2. First pitch times are 7:05 p.m.
