Everett Silvertips News Release

EVERETT, Wash. - Mario Petit and Dorrin Luding (making his WHL debut) combined for a 23-save shutout while Devon Skoleski and Bradly Goethals each earned multi point games to help the first place Everett Silvertips cruise past the Spokane Chiefs in a 5-0 victory at XFINITY Arena on Wednesday in WHL action.

Managing the absence of Carter Hart, Noah Juulsen (the former returning tomorrow from the World Juniors), Lucas Skrumeda and Aaron Irving, the Silvertips strung efforts of 11 players who registered a point on the scoresheet and earned their 18th win this season in downtown Everett, leading the WHL in home wins.

The Silvertips improved to 3-1-1 over Spokane this season.

After a scoreless tie, Brandson Hein bagged his first career WHL goal on a snapper from the left circle at the 2:40 mark, celebrating with a leap into the glass for a 1-0 lead. Connor Dewar seared a wrister through traffic and Spokane goaltender Dawson Weatherill's five-hole after an offensive zone face-off win for a 2-0 lead at 11:57.

Skoleski essentially delivered the dagger with a shorthanded breakaway goal, cleaning up his own rebound at 5:29 of the third period and Jake Christiansen padded the lead to 4-0 on a power play wrister from the left point at 8:55.

Eetu Tuulola set up Riley Sutter between the circles for a 5-0 lead at 12:36, when Petit (18 saves) gracefully exited the net to give Luding - padding his resume of nine games this season with the West Valley Hawks (BCMML) - his first taste of WHL action.

Luding turned away five saves, including a pair on a Spokane power play to close out the victory.
