August 29, 2017 - South Atlantic League (SAL) - Lakewood BlueClaws
LAKEWOOD, NJ - BlueClaws first baseman Darick Hall and pitcher Will Hibbs were named to the South Atlantic League Post-Season All-Star Team, with Hall earning South Atlantic League MVP. The team was announced on Tuesday by League President Eric Krupa.
Hall, who was also the league's All-Star First Baseman, is the first BlueClaw ever to be named South Atlantic League MVP. Hibbs was named the league's All-Star Relief Pitcher.
The pair mark the 17th and 18th players BlueClaws to make the South Atlantic League Post-Season All-Star Team after 2B Josh Tobias and OF Jose Pujols were named to last year's team.
*Statistics through August 28th* Hall, who leads the league in both home runs with 27 and RBIs with 96, set BlueClaws single-season franchise records in both categories in a two home run, seven RBI game last Wednesday at Hagerstown. He broke the team home run record set in 2016 by Jose Pujols (24) and the RBI record set in 2004 by Randy Ruiz (91). He also leads the league in slugging percentage (.533), total bases (227) and extra-base hits (56). Hall was a 14th round pick of the Phillies in 2016 from Dallas Baptist.
Hibbs began the season by throwing 32 consecutive innings without allowing an earned run. Overall, he is 5-4 with a 1.92 ERA and leads the league with 18 saves. He has thrown at least two innings in six of his 18 saves this season. Hibbs was a 19th round pick of the Phillies last year from Lamar.
This is the sixth year the BlueClaws have had multiple members of the Post-Season All-Star Team.
