Lancaster JetHawks News Release

LANCASTER, Calif. - Brooks Marlow delivered a two-out two-run double to break a 3-3 tie in the eighth inning and lift the JetHawks to a 5-3 victory over the Inland Empire 66ers in the opener of a three-game series on Tuesday at The Hangar.

The double from Marlow, who was just promoted to the JetHawks yesterday from Low-A Quad Cities, capped a three-run rally in the eighth. The first run came home on a sacrifice fly by Nick Tanielu with the bases loaded, after Kristian Trompiz and Bobby Boyd started the inning with singles and Drew Ferguson was hit by a pitch. Boyd had three hits in the game.

The JetHawks took a 2-0 lead in the third inning on a two-run single off the bat of Garrett Stubbs, who extended his hitting streak to 14 games. Lake Elsinore responded right away with three in the top of the fourth. The big blow came on a two-run double by Zach Houchins.

Josh James (3-1) was spectacular in relief for the JetHawks to earn the win. He tossed four shutout innings and allowed just one hit and struck out five, retiring the first seven hitters he faced.

Jose Molina (1-2) took the loss in relief for the 66ers. He retired the JetHawks in order in the seventh, but allowed the first two to reach in the eighth. Eduardo Paredes gave up the sacrifice fly to Tanielu and the decisive double to Marlow. He was charged with a blown save.

The JetHawks (16-20) and 66ers (11-28) continue their three-game series tomorrow night at The Hangar. Scott Weathersby (1-3) will start for Lancaster against Jason Hoppe (0-0). First pitch is 6:35 p.m.

The JetHawks are celebrating their 20th anniversary season in Lancaster. Great ticket packages and group events are on sale now at jethawks.com or by calling (661) 726-5400.
