Seattle Storm Quotes

Head Coach Jenny Boucek

One erasing the New York's twelve-point lead:

"I thought we started just a step slow - took us a while to get our energy level up and our activity level up to where it needs to be. We clawed our way back, then we just didn't execute down the stretch at all."

On change to New York's since last meeting:

"They're a good team and they've been a good team for a long time. They've got a lot of talent. They've got a lot of weapons; and if you're not dialed in defensively, they're going to make you pay.

On Guard Sue Bird:

"She's a pro. She is, in my opinion, one of the best point guards that's ever played and she knows how to take care of her body, how to mentally prepare regardless of how she's feeling. One of the smartest players, if not the smartest player, that we've ever seen, so, between her skills and her intelligence and her experience and her mental and physical toughness, she's had an extended career."

On Guard Sami Whitcomb joining team:

"I think our style fits her well, she fits our style well and out movement style where we try to create a lot of good shots for each other. It's a high energy system and it requires activity and she fits all those things."

Seattle Storm Quotes

Sue Bird

On today's game:

"We put ourselves in a hole early on and it takes a lot of energy to fight back from that. We did, which is a good sign, but sometimes it takes too much energy down the stretch. It seemed like they made more plays than we did. We had some costly turnovers and they were able to get enough of a lead. When there is 45 seconds, five is just a lead to secure it and those are the two things, bad start and didn't play well down the stretch."

On playing in New York:

"I've had some great games here, some great wins and some stinkers. When I come here I try not to get too caught up in trying to play well because everyone is here. I just try to go out there and play, then enjoy my friends and family after. I've had every kind of game you can possibly have, game winners and awful games."

Breanna Stewart

On her performance:

"I was just confident and the ball felt good once it came off of my hands. I was just trying to do whatever I could to help out the team, but fouling out didn't help."

On guarding Tina Charles:

"She's able to make an impact in a lot of different ways, whether it's from the post or mid-range, but you have to let pick and choose what you are going to let her have."
