New York Liberty to Host Washington Mystics in WNBA Playoffs Sunday,

New York, N.Y. - The New York Liberty will host the Washington Mystics in a winner take all WNBA Playoffs 2nd Round game on Sunday, Sept. 10, at Madison Square Garden at 5 PM. The Liberty are in the midst of one of the most successful stretches in franchise history, having clinched a 3rd-straight postseason berth. New York (22-12) ended the regular season on a franchise record tying 10-game winning streak, which is also the most consecutive wins a team has ever had to conclude a WNBA regular season.

The Liberty has now won at least 20 regular season games in 3-consecutive seasons for the 1st time in franchise history, having posted a 66-36 (.647) record over that span. Perennial All-Star Tina Charles posted another MVP caliber season, ranking 3rd in the WNBA averaging 19.7 ppg. New York once again led the league in defensive field goal percentage, becoming the 1st franchise in league history to do so in 3-consecutive campaigns (2015-17).

New York received a bye into the 2nd Round of the WNBA Playoffs as the No. 3 seed. Washington advanced by picking up an 86-76 win over the Dallas wings on Wednesday night.

The Liberty went 2-1 against the Mystics this season, and won both games played at The Garden, most recently a 74-66 victory on Aug. 25, in which both Charles and Epiphanny Prince posted 20 points. The Mystics are led by Elena Delle Donne (19.7 ppg) and Emma Meesseman (14.1 ppg) and are back in the playoffs for the 1st time since 2015. That year, the Liberty defeated the Mystics 2-1 in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. New York is 6-2 all-time against Washington in the WNBA Playoffs.
