New Jersey Devils Acquire Defenseman Kurtis Foster & Goaltender Timo Pielmeier From Ducks

Newark, NJ - The New Jersey Devils today acquired defenseman Kurtis Foster and goaltender Timo Pielmeier from Anaheim in exchange for defenseman Mark Fraser, center Rob Pelley and their seventh-round pick in the 2012 NHL Entry Draft. The announcement was made by Devils' President/CEO/General Manager Lou Lamoriello.

Foster, 30, posted one goal and one assist for two points and eight penalty minutes in nine games with Anaheim this season, and has also played in two games with Syracuse (AHL). Now in his seventh NHL season, the 6-5, 225-lb. defenseman has career totals of 38 goals and 105 assists for 143 points and 256 penalty minutes in 340 appearances with Atlanta, Minnesota, Tampa Bay, Edmonton and Anaheim. Foster was born November 24, 1981 in Carp, Ont., and made his pro debut with Chicago (AHL) in 2001-02, following five seasons with Peterborough (Ont). Foster was Calgary's second choice and 40th overall selection in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft.

Pielmeier, 22, has appeared in ten games this season with Elmira (ECHL), posting four wins, five losses and 3.45 goals-against average. The 6-0, 175-lb. netminder made his NHL debut by appearing in one game with Anaheim last season. In 2009-10, Pielmeier made his pro debut with Bakersfield (ECHL). Born July 7, 1989 in Deggendorf, Germany, he was San Jose's third choice, 83rd overall, in the 2007 NHL Draft.

Fraser, now in his third NHL season has appeared in four games, while Pelley has seen action in seven contests in his fourth NHL campaign.
