Quad Cities River Bandits News Release
CBS4's Jay Kidwell and ABC's Mick Moninghoff will represent their respective stations later this month in the Swing of the Quad Cities broadcast booth, the team announced on Tuesday.
The two television lead sports anchors will move from behind the camera to the radio booth for one game each, trying their hands at calling baseball play-by-play for a pair of weekend games against the Beloit Snappers. Kidwell and CBS4 will call the action on Saturday, June 16, while Moninghoff and WQAD NewsChannel 8 will call an afternoon game on Sunday, June 17.
The two contests are the last of the first half, meaning that they figure to play a crucial role in who will get the two playoff spots awarded at the All-Star break. The Swing are currently one of four teams still in the running, while the Snappers are sitting atop the division in first place.
All Swing broadcasts can be heard locally over the airwaves on WKBF AM-1270, and out-of-town listeners can tune in on the Internet at www.swingbaseball.com. Out-of-town listeners without Internet can listen via TEAMLINE Direct by calling (216) 502-3200 and entering extension 5280.
The broadcast on Saturday, June 16, will begin at 6:45 p.m. and the broadcast on Sunday, June 17, will begin at 12:45 p.m.
TICKETS: Tickets for all events at John O'Donnell Stadium can be purchased by calling the Swing of the Quad Cities ticket office at (563) 328-2000, coming to the box office located at the stadium along South Gaines Street, or by logging on to www.swingbaseball.com.
UP NEXT: The Swing continue their nine-game homestand that will stretch to the All-Star break, welcoming the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers (Mon-Thu) and Beloit Snappers (Fri-Sun) into town. All Swing games feature a radio broadcast that can be heard on The Truth AM-1270 or online at www.swingbaseball.com, with the pre-game show starting 15 minutes prior to scheduled first pitch.
UPCOMING PROMOTIONS: Tuesday is Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Night, including post-game fireworks and the culmination of the Sandberg bat raffle. One day later fans can enjoy a Wednesday afternoon matinee and take advantage of the Business Person Special, while another Bent River Brewing Company Thirsty Thursday also looms on the horizon. The first half then winds down with a crucial three-game series against first-place Beloit. Fans arriving early to Friday night's game will get a Swiss Valley Farms Team Poster, while Saturday's Deere Employee Night "flying discs" giveaway, sponsored by Quad City International Airport, precedes a spectacular fireworks display! Sunday will mark the final game of the first half, as the Swing head to the All-Star break with a US Bank Family Fun Day!
