Navigators Owner Patrick Salvi Wins Tommy Lasorda Legends Award

North Shore Navigators News Release

The owner of the North Shore Navigators, Patrick Salvi, has added yet another accolade to his impressive baseball resume. On Monday, Salvi was awarded the inaugural Tommy Lasorda Legends Award. The award was created by the National Italian American Sports Hall of Fame to honor contributions that a person has made to the game of baseball.

"Pat receiving this award just further demonstrates the leadership that he has taken on in baseball. He has shown a commitment to the sport and deserves recognition for his efforts," said Navigators General Manager Bill Terlecky.

Salvi bought the North Shore Navigators before their 2012 season. When Salvi took over the team he elected to have the Navigators switch leagues. Previously, the team had played in the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL), but they made the switch to the Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL), which began its operations in 2011. They have played in the FCBL for the past four seasons.

During his tenure as the Navigators owner, Salvi has helped the team become respected league wide. In 2015, the Navigators set a franchise record in wins, earning 33 victories under new field manager John Zizzo. They hosted the FCBL All-Star Game as well and because of the superb performance by the Navigators in general, they were awarded the 2015 FCBL Organization of the Year Award.

Aside from the Navigators, Salvi is also the owner of the Schaumburg Boomers, an independent team in the Frontier League, and the Gary South Shore Railcats, an independent team in the American Association. With those teams, Salvi has earned an Organization of the Year award once (2013 with the Boomers) and has captured three league championships (one with the Railcats and two with the Boomers).
