Nationals Operations Suspended
July 20, 2011 - Federal Hockey League (FHL) News Release
Syracuse, NY - The Federal Hockey League has announced the suspension of the Niagara Falls Nationals effective immediately. Citing failed attempts by the team to acquire an adequate number of home dates from the Gale Center in Niagara Falls Ontario. Without the required number of home dates, the Nationals would be forced to play more away games than home games therefore putting them in a serious financial situation. The FHL determined that for the betterment of the league and the Nationals to suspend them at this time.
The FHL will still consider markets in Southern Ontario as an important part of their footprint for future expansion in years to come.
