Nationals Game Notes June 18

June 18, 2009 - Carolina League (CarL1)
Potomac Nationals News Release

The Potomac Nationals will wrap up the first half of the 2009 campaign by hosting the Salem Red Sox in a four-game series from Pfitzner Stadium beginning tonight at 7:05 p.m. Despite falling short in their chase with Winston-Salem for the Southern Division, Salem enters tonight's game having gone 5-1 in their recent homestand including three consecutive victories over Kinston. Boston's Carolina League affiliate jumped ahead of the K-Tribe for 2nd place out South but regardless of the outcome of this series, the Red Sox will finish below .500 at the All-Star Break.

Potomac is 7-3 this season against Salem but is just 1-2 vs. the Red Sox from Pfitzner Stadium. The only time these clubs met in Woodbridge this year came from May 12-14 when Salem outscored Potomac 20-9 in the three-game series. It was that set that began this recent string of unsuccessful home series for the P-Nats who are now winless in six straight (0-5-1).
