Wheeling Nailers News Release

DJ ABISALIH DJABISALIH@WHEELINGNAILERS.COM Nailers Re-Sign Jordan Kwas Claimed off of Waivers in January, Kwas Led Wheeling With Four Points in Two Game Seven Wins WHEELING, WV- The Wheeling Nailers, proud ECHL affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, are excited to announce their third player signing of the 2016 offseason. Wheeling has re-signed forward Jordan Kwas to an ECHL contract.

Kwas, 27, made his arrival in Wheeling in late January, when he was claimed off of waivers by the Nailers from the South Carolina Stingrays. It took Jordan just two games to find the back of the net in his new uniform, and the team responded to his arrival, posting a 10-2-1 record in his first 13 games with the club. After compiling two goals and 12 points in 27 games with Colorado and South Carolina earlier in the season, the Cochrane, Alberta native bettered his numbers in Wheeling, racking up seven goals and 17 points in 33 regular season contests. Kwas' productivity continued in the playoffs, especially in key situations. Jordan recorded one goal and two assists in game seven against Reading, before adding a third period goal in game seven against South Carolina, making him the only Nailer to score a goal in both game seven victories.

"Jordan Kwas is a great role player, who really established himself in the playoffs," said Nailers Head Coach Jeff Christian. "He has good character, is a hard worker, and a great team guy, who plays with tons of heart and soul. I am happy to have him back for another year."

2015-16 was Kwas' second professional season, as he spent the entire 2014-15 campaign with the Colorado Eagles, accumulating eight goals and 21 points in 52 games. Prior to making the jump to the pro game, Jordan attended the University of Alaska-Anchorage for four years, where he majored in Marketing, while playing for the Seawolves. The best of those seasons on the ice came as a senior, when he amassed 13 goals and 32 points in 38 games, while taking home the team's Coaches Award at the end of the year. Kwas netted his lone hat trick that year as well, completing the feat against Air Force. Jordan's college totals were 30 goals, 60 assists, and 90 points in 124 games.

"I am excited to be coming back to Wheeling, looking to make a bigger impact, and build on what we started last year," Kwas said. "It was amazing seeing how passionate our fans were last season, and hopefully we can take our momentum from last season and carry it into this year with a filled building every night."

Jordan Kwas and the Eastern Conference Champion Wheeling Nailers will begin the 2016-17 season at WesBanco Arena on October 15th against the Brampton Beast, with opening face-off scheduled for 7:05
