Nailers Post Shootout win over Bombers

Wheeling, WV – The Dayton Bombers dropped a 3-2 shootout decision to the Wheeling Nailers in front of 4,126 at WesBanco Arena in Wheeling, West Virginia Friday night. The Bombers end their 72-game regular season schedule in Peoria tomorrow (Saturday) night.
The Bombers allowed a season-high 23 shots in the first period, but the game remained scoreless after 20 minutes.
Russ Guzior opened the scoring at 2:18 of the second period, and Wheeling took a 1-0 lead. The Bombers tied the game, 1-1, when rookie defenseman CHRIS PEDOTA scored his first professional goal (SHG) at 8:55. The Nailers took a 2-1 lead with a shorthanded goal from Ed McGrane at 13:50. And the Bombers tied the game, 2-2, at 16:39 when TODD ALEXANDER scored a powerplay goal at 16:39.
Following a scoreless third period and overtime period, the Nailers received shootout goals from Evgeny Lazarev and James Laux to secure the 3-2 win.
The Dayton Bombers end their 72-game regular season schedule tomorrow (Saturday) night when they travel to Carver Arena to face the Peoria Rivermen. Audio coverage begins at 7:00 PM at daytonbombers.com.
