Nailers Come To Terms With Center Grennier

WHEELING, WV - The Wheeling Nailers, the 'AA' affiliate of the Pittsburgh Penguins, have signed center Matt Grennier, it was announced today by team President Jim Brooks. As per club policy, no further terms were disclosed.
"Matt is a smart and skilled player that should help us at both ends of the rink. " Said Jim Brooks.
Grennier, 25, recorded 118 points (42 goals, 76 assists) and 172 penalty minutes in 127 career games for Wilfrid Laurier University (CIS). He was named the 2003-04 Team Rookie of the Year with the Golden Hawks.
The 6-foot-1-inch, 186-pound center capped his five-year collegiate career with his highest offensive output, notching 35 points (12g, 23a). Following the end of the 2007-08 season, he appeared in seven games with the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League.
A native of Dryden, ONT, Grennier played in 241 games spread between the Kitchener Rangers, Barrie Colts and Brampton Battalion of the Ontario Hockey League from 1999-2003. Most notably, he helped lead the Rangers to the 2003 Mastercard Memorial Cup in 2003. He registered 62 points (29g, 33a) and 140 penalty minutes during his OHL career.
