Washington Mystics News Release
WASHINGTON, D.C.-For the eight consecutive year, the Washington Mystics and CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield (CareFirst) will partner for the "Community 3's" initiative. CareFirst will be the presenting partner of the Community 3's initiative and will donate $100 to the March of Dimes Mama and Baby Bus for every three-pointer made by the Mystics this season. The mobile medical unit provides education, prenatal care and improved access to healthcare for women in Washington, D.C., and Prince George's County. Thus far, Washington currently has made 178 three-pointers on the season. CareFirst and the Mystics will also host their seventh annual diaper drive on Sept. 9 when Washington host the Seattle Storm at Verizon Center. The collected diapers will benefit Zeta Phi Beta Stork's Nest Programs, a March of Dimes program that provides prenatal education and incentives for low-income, pregnant women. The Mama and Baby Bus will also be at the diaper drive. During the 2015 diaper drive, 24,272 diapers were donated, an increase of last year's donation to the Stork's Nest. In the last seven years, CareFirst has contributed $144,000 and help collect nearly 125,000 diapers.
