Billings Mustangs News Release

BILLINGS, Montana - The Billings Mustangs (7-3, 30-18) swept the Idaho Falls Chukars (4-7, 26-23) with a 6-1 win on Wednesday in front of 2,789 at Dehler Park. It was just the second time this season the Mustangs have swept an opponent.

Jose Siri wasted no time starting the scoring. Siri hit his fifth homerun in four days, a two-run shot, in the bottom of the first inning off Jace Vines (1-4). Siri would play just the first four innings, finishing 1-for-2.

The Mustangs extended their lead to 4-0 when Gabriel Ovalle hit a two-RBI single in the fourth inning to score both Michael Beltre and Montrell Marshall. It was the first three-hit game of the season for Ovalle who went 3-for-4.

The Chukars would score their lone run of the night in the fifth when Luke Willis crossed the plate on a Manny Olloque grounder.

Ian Kahaloa (2-1) went five innings in the start, giving up just one run on four hits while striking out four. The Billings starting pitchers were able to pick up the win in all three games of the series.

Four pitchers would combine for shutout relief, allowing four hits over the final four innings and walking just one.

The Mustangs now have the day off on Thursday to travel to Ogden, Utah. They will begin a three-game series on Friday with the Raptors at Lindquist Field. First pitch Friday is set for 7:00 p.m. This story was not subject to the approval of the National Association of Professional Baseball Leagues or its clubs.
