Sioux City Musketeers News Release

SIOUX CENTER, IA - The Musketeers were in Sioux Center, Iowa on Tuesday night for a preseason matchup against the Sioux Falls Stampede, and the trip was well worth it. Sioux City had six different players find the back of the net en route to a decisive 6-2 victory over Sioux Falls.

Sean Bunting got the scoring started for Sioux City just two minutes into the game after receiving an excellent pass from Levi Kleiboer to put the Musketeers up 1-0. The big defenseman Tommy Pasanen put the Musketeers up by two with a bomb from the point that beat Chad Veltri at the 13:21 mark, Zach Plucinski had the assist on the play. It seemed like Sioux City would head into the locker room up two, but Kevin Lombardi jammed home a rebound at the 19:48 mark to put the Musketeers up by three after the 1st period.

Sioux Falls got one back early in the 2nd period when Brian Chambers beat Ben Kraws to cut the Stampede deficit to two. Just under three minutes later Parker Ford found himself all alone streaking down the right side before firing a puck into the top corner of the net to put the Musketeers back up by three. Levi Kleibor recorded his second assist of the night on the play. Sioux Falls managed to get one back a few minutes later when Matt Cameron scored to cut the Musketeers lead to two. Sioux City couldn't extend lead any further in the 2nd period, but they wouldn't need to.

The third period was all Sioux City. Jacob Herter scored halfway through the third to put the Musketeer up 5-2 at the 10:11 of the period. Jake Hale had the assist on the play. Clark Kerner scored an empty net goal at the 18:39 mark to seal the win for Sioux City.

The Musketeers will be back in action Friday afternoon when they take on the Des Moines Buccaneers in the final preseason game of the year; puck drop is set for 4:05 pm. Sioux City will then hit the road to Pittsburgh to start the regular season on Friday, September 28th against the Green Bay Gamblers at the 2018 USHL Fall Classic.
