Chicago Steel News Release

GENEVA, ILLINOIS - The United States Hockey League ("USHL") announced Tuesday the coaching staffs for the 2017 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game. Head Coach Dan Muse of the first-place Chicago Steel has been selected to serve as Head Coach of Team East for the game, to be held Tuesday, Jan. 10 at Denny Sanford PREMIER Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. The game will serve as a showcase of the top USHL players eligible for the 2017 NHL Draft.

Muse will be joined at the game by Steel forwards Walker Duehr and Brannon McManus, who were each named to the USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game roster earlier this month.

"It is a great honor to be representing the Chicago Steel staff and organization at this year's Top Prospects Game," said Muse. "We have a great group of hardworking players and a tremendous staff in Chicago. My being named as the coach for Team East comes from their hard work. It will be an honor to represent the organization as a whole at this great event. The talent in the league this year is nothing short of amazing and I look forward to working with many of these great players in Sioux Falls."

Muse, 34, has led the way behind the bench for the Steel's dynamic start to the 2016-2017 season, including a USHL Tier 1 record-tying 10 consecutive wins to start the season. Muse's Steel currently sit atop the USHL standings with a record of 18-5-1-2 (39 pts.). Muse is in his second season with the Steel following an incredibly successful six-year stint with the coaching staff at Yale University, highlighted by an NCAA National Championship in 2013. Additionally, Muse twice served as video coach for the United States at the IIHF World Junior Championship, including a gold medal performance in 2013.

The 2017 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game will also feature a pre-game skills competition. The past two Top Prospects Games - 2016 in Omaha, Neb., and 2015 in Dubuque, Iowa - featured near sellout crowds, and were featured in special programs on NHL Network.

Following the USHL's holiday break, the Steel return to the ice on Wednesday, Dec. 28 with a visit to Dubuque. Chicago then hosts its final home game of the calendar year on Friday, Dec. 30. The 7:05 p.m. contest against the Green Bay Gamblers will feature a post-game Skate with the Steel.
