Mudbugs Bounce the Jackalopes

The Shreveport Mudbugs (39-9-3-2) bounced the Odessa Jackalopes, 5-1 Friday night at Georges Pond in Hirsch Coliseum.

Shreveport opened up the scoring early in the 1st period when Gueorgui Feduolov backhanded his sixth goal of the year at 5:14. Jake Transit and Warren Natyshak got the assists on the goal. Bugs led 1-0 when Andrew banged in a perfect carom off the end boards for his fourth goal of the year. The goal occurred at 7:45 and was assisted by Transit and Natyshak giving Shreveport a 2-0 edge. Brendan VanSweden assisted by Derek Contessa and Roberts Baranovskis at 17:53. Shreveport led 3-0 after the opening period of play.

The score stayed 3-0 until Zac Hermann wristed in a goal breaking Jaxon Castor's shutout bid 11:28 into the third period and a string of almost 243 minutes without scoring a tally against Shreveport. Jordan Fader fired home his 14th goal of the year EN and Brendan VanSweden rocketed home his 2nd goal of the game from the left point giving the Bugs a 5-1 lead and victory.

Castor got his 8th win in net.

Shreveport is now 8-0-1 in nine meetings against Odessa this season.

The Mudbugs will conclude their two-game set with Odessa tomorrow night at Georges Pond in Hirsch Coliseum. Puck drop is scheduled for 7:11pm.
