Mud Hens Team up with Hannah's Socks to Collect New Socks for Needy

June 24, 2011 - International League (IL1)
Toledo Mud Hens News Release

The Toledo Mud Hens, together with Hannah's Socks, will be hosting a Sock Collection Drive at the Sunday, June 26th game. Fans are asked to bring donations of new socks for the collection bins at the Home Plate & 1st Base Gates. (Please, no used socks or other clothing items.) Socks of all sizes are accepted and donations will benefit needy families in Northwest Ohio.

When Hannah Turner was just four years of age, she offered to give her socks to a homeless man she met who had no socks of his own. Her kind and generous act inspired the launch of Hannah's Socks, a charity that provides new socks and other clothing essentials to more than 20 homeless and domestic-violence shelters in Greater Toledo. Hannah has appeared in People Magazine and on The Oprah Winfrey Show, and her organization has collected more than 150,000 pairs of socks in just a few short years. Hannah will also be throwing out a Ceremonial First Pitch prior to the game on Sunday. Visit www.hannahssocks.org for more information on Hannah's Socks.
