Mosaic to Sponsor School Kids Program at 2018 Mastercard Memorial Cup

Regina, Saskatchewan - The 2018 Mastercard Memorial Cup Host Committee, is pleased to announce the addition of The Mosaic Company as the official Supporting Sponsor for the School Kids Program at the upcoming 100th anniversary edition of the iconic junior hockey championship.

"We're very pleased to see Mosaic step forward and commit to this event," says Shaun Semple, Chair of Regina's Host Committee. "The company has a long history as active community-builders and it is wonderful to see them reach out to involve school children from communities across the province in this exciting, once-in-a-lifetime hockey celebration!"

As part of the company's diverse commitment to Saskatchewan, Mosaic will bring over 1,000 grade 4 and 5 students from Regina schools, and eight Saskatchewan First Nation schools, to participate in hockey-themed activities at the Mastercard Memorial Cup during FanFest. From May 22-25, students will explore major displays from the Hockey Hall of Fame and Canadian Armed Forces and participate in the creation of a large mural commemorating 100 years of junior hockey history in Canada.

Supporting organizations and events that matter to Saskatchewan is not new to Mosaic. The Host Committee is anticipating further sponsorship announcements in the coming weeks, as there continues to be considerable interest from both local and national organizations.

About the Mastercard Memorial CupThe Memorial Cup has a rich tradition that has shaped the way junior hockey is played in North America. The trophy was originally known as the OHA Memorial Cup and was donated by the Ontario Hockey Association in March, 1919, in remembrance of the many soldiers who paid the supreme sacrifice for Canada in the First World War.  In 2010 the Memorial Cup was rededicated to the memory of all fallen Canadian Military Personnel killed in combat serving our country.
