YOUNGSTOWN, OH - The United States Hockey League (USHL) and NHL Central Scouting have announced the players who will compete in the 2016 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game on January 12th in Omaha, NE. Two Youngstown Phantoms, forward Cameron Morrison and defenseman Luke McInnis, have been selected to participate in the event. All 40 players chosen to compete in the Top Prospects Game are eligible for the 2016 NHL Draft.

"It's a great opportunity to show the scouts what I have to offer, playing against the best draft eligible players in the league. It's a great chance for me to show how I can play against top talent, and I'm looking forward to the opportunity," said Morrison.

Morrison will be the youngest player competing in the 2016 Top Prospects Game. The rookie winger leads the USHL with 29 points in 24 games so far this season.

McInnis participated in the 2015 CCM/USA Hockey All-American Prospects Game in September in Buffalo, NY, where he was named MVP after scoring the game winning goal. McInnis was also named the USHL Defenseman of the Week in early October.

"It's great to have a showcase to play against the top talent in the USHL and be seen by so many scouts. I'm sure it will be a fun experience and I am excited for the opportunity," McInnis said.

Six Youngstown representatives participated in the 2015 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game, including Phantoms forward Kevin Conley, who was named First Star and MVP of the competition with a pair of goals and an assist. Youngstown forward Chase Pearson was named the Third Star of the game, with a goal and an assist.

"After a record-breaking NHL Draft in 2015 in which no junior league in the world had more draft picks than the USHL, this should be a momentous year for the league and the USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game," said Bob Fallen, USHL President and Commissioner. "By being selected for the event, these players have already captured the attention of NHL scouts, and the game provides them another opportunity to be evaluated among the best talent in their age group."

The 40 players chosen for the 2016 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game will be sorted into two different teams closer to the competition.
