Moose Players Shaken After Opponent Collapses, Nearly Dies on Ice

The Manitoba Moose were back on home ice Monday following a lengthy road trip - but it's clear hockey was pretty much the furthest thing from their minds.

Coaches and players were still in shock over what they witnessed Saturday night in Tucson, Ariz. The captain of the rival Roadunners, Craig Cunningham, collapsed just before the opening faceoff. Medical staff rushed into action, cutting off his jersey and performing chest compressions.

Cunningham, 26, was taken to hospital, and the the game was postponed. Cunningham remains in critical but stable condition, the Roadrunners announced Monday. There have been reports he suffered a heart attack, but team officials have not confirmed that.
