CEDAR PARK, TX - The Cleveland Monsters, proud American Hockey League affiliate of the NHL's Columbus Blue Jackets, were defeated by the Texas Stars at H-E-B Center at Cedar Park in Cedar Park, TX on Saturday in overtime by a final score of 5-4. With the overtime loss, the Monsters are now 8-10-3-2 overall this season and with a .457 points percentage, currently sit alone in sixth place in the AHL's Central Division standings.

Cleveland grabbed a 1-0 lead on Saturday when Sam Vigneault potted an even-strength marker from John Ramage and Cameron Gaunce at 4:55 of the first period before Texas' Roope Hintz leveled the score at one apiece with a five-on-five finish at 14:12. The Monsters surged back in front late in the frame, however, when Nick Moutrey polished off a power-play goal at 18:10 thanks to assists from Sonny Milano and Zac Dalpe.

In the middle stanza, the Stars again tied the game when Mark McNeill netted an even-strength tally at 6:53 before Andrew Bodnarchuk gave Texas their first lead at 0:44 of the third period at 3-2. Cleveland's Andre Benoit notched his first goal of the season at even-strength at 5:01 of the third period, thanks to feeds from Blake Siebenaler and Dalpe, to square things at three apiece before the Stars surged back in front at 4-3 with a Matt Mangene marker at 5:14. The Monsters forced overtime with Vigneault's second of the game at 16:54 of the third, thanks to extra-man helpers from Carter Camper and Dean Kukan, but Texas claimed a 5-4 overtime victory thanks to Niklass Hansson's decisive score at 2:34 of the extra session.

Cleveland net-minder Matiss Kivlenieks fell to 3-5-2 in net this season despite stopping 27 of the 32 pucks he faced on Saturday, while Texas' Landon Bow improved to 11-5-0 by virtue of a 40-save performance.
