LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS

@ Worcester (2/22): The Manchester Monarchs scored five second period goals to power past the Worcester Sharks, 7-2, at the DCU Center on Friday night. Manchester's goals were scored by right wing Brandon Kozun (two), left wing Tanner Pearson, defenseman Bryan Rodney, right wing Tyler Toffoli, center Linden Vey and center Jordan Weal. Monarchs netminder Martin Jones (13-18-3) earned his 13th victory of the season stopping 29-of-31 shots. Sharks goaltender Harri Sateri (10-11-2) took his 11th loss of the season making 24 saves on 31 shot. Manchester went 1-for-6 on the power play. Worcester was 1-for-3 with the man advantage.

@ Bridgeport (2/23): The Manchester Monarchs overcame a one-goal deficit twice before defeating the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, 3-2, on the first ever You Can Play game at Webster Bank Arena on Saturday night. The Monarchs received goals from right wing Tyler Toffoli, center Jordan Weal and left wing Colton Yellow Horn. The Sound Tigers scored goals off the sticks of defenseman Matt Donovan and left wing Mike Halmo. Monarchs goaltender Martin Jones (14-18-3) earned his 14th victory of the season stopping 35-of-37 shots. Sound Tigers goaltender Kenny Reiter (0-1-0) took his first loss of the season making 32 saves on 35 shots. Manchester went 2-for-6 on the power play. Sound Tigers was 0-for-6 with the man advantage.

@ Portland (2/24): The Manchester Monarchs earned five-of-six points on the weekend but could not grab the sixth as they fell to the Portland Pirates, 4-3, in overtime in game nine of the VIP Cup, presented by VIP Parts, Tires and Service, at the Cumberland County Civic Center on Sunday afternoon. The Pirates lead the rivalry series 5-4. Right wing Anthony Stewart, right wing Brandon Kozun and left wing Colton Yellow Horn scored for the Monarchs. Right wing Chris Conner, defenseman Maxim Goncharov and right wing Phil Lane (two) tallied goals for the Pirates. Monarchs goaltender Martin Jones (14-19-3) took his 19th loss of the season making 25 saves on 29 shots. Pirates netminder Mike Lee (6-1-0) earned his sixth of the season stopping 19-22 shots. Manchester went 0-for-3 on the power play. Portland went 0-for-3 with the man advantage.

The Providence Bruins (31-17-0-4) sit in first place in the Atlantic Division with 66 points. The Portland Pirates (31-19-1-1) are in second place in the division with 64 points. The Worcester Sharks (25-21-1-5) rank third in the division with 56 points. The Manchester Monarchs (24-24-3-3) are in fourth place in the division with 54 points. The St. John's IceCaps (23-29-1-2) sit in fifth place in the division with 49 points.

The Monarchs are 11-13-1-1 on the road and are 13-11-2-2 at home this season.

Manchester is 12-5-0-0 overall when they play on a Saturday this season.

The Monarchs earned five-of-six possible points in the standings going 2-0-1-0 in three games this past weekend.

The Monarchs played in their 1,000th game on Saturday, February 16 against the IceCaps.

After not registering a power play goal in six straight games, the Monarchs have tallied six power play goals in their last seven games.

The Monarchs are second in the American Hockey League when faced with a penalty kill on the road (88.2%).

Center Linden Vey (14-32=46) leads the team with 32 assists and 46 points.

Vey appeared in his 100th AHL game (all with the Monarchs) on Saturday, December 15 against the Adirondack Phantoms.

Vey had a nine-game assist and point streak (1-13=14) end on Saturday, January 19. Vey's nine-game assist streak set a Monarchs franchise record.

Vey is the only Monarchs player to appear in all 54 of the team's games this season.

Vey has 27 points (7-20=27) in his last 26 games.

Vey had a six-game point streak (3-6=9) snapped against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Saturday, February 23.

Vey's 32 assists are tied for fifth among league skaters.

Vey leads the team with 10 power play assists.

Vey is third on the team with 14 goals.

Right wing Tyler Toffoli (26-17=43) is second on the team with 43 points.

Toffoli was named the Monarchs representative on the 2013 Dunkin' Donuts AHL All-Star Classic Roster on Thursday, January 17. Toffoli registered a goal and an assist in a 7-6 loss for the Eastern Conference in the 2013 Dunkin' Donuts AHL All-Star Game on Monday, January 28.

Toffoli tallied his second hat trick of the season and second against the Pirates in a 5-3 victory on Saturday, December 22.

Toffoli has nine goals in nine games against the Pirates this season, which also leads all VIP Cup skaters.

Toffoli leads the team and AHL rookie skaters with 26 goals this season.

Toffoli's 26 goals are also tied for second place among league skaters.

Toffoli's 43 points is second in the league among rookie skaters.

Toffoli leads the team with six power play goals this season.

Toffoli has six goals and seven assists for 13 points in his last 13 games.

Toffoli leads the team with 159 shots on goal this season.

Toffoli also leads the team in plus/minus with plus-16.

Right wing Brandon Kozun (19-21=40) is ranked third on the team with 21 assists and 40 points.

Kozun is second on the team with 19 goals this season.

Kozun has eight goals in his last seven games.

Kozun leads the team with six game-winning goals this season which is tied for fifth place in the AHL.

Kozun tallied game-winning goals against the Sharks on Saturday, October 27, against the Binghamton Senators on Sunday, October 28, against the IceCaps on Wednesday, November 7, versus the Bruins on Saturday, January 19, against the IceCaps on Friday, February 15 and versus the Sharks on Friday, February 22.

Kozun's six game-winning tallies rank tied for second in the league.

Kozun has 62 career tallies in a Monarchs uniform ranking 10th on the franchise's all-time goals list.

Left wing Tanner Pearson (13-22=35) is in fourth place on the Monarchs with 35 points.

Pearson has three goals and three assists in his last six games.

Pearson is second behind Vey on the Monarchs roster with 22 assists.

Pearson is tied with defenseman Andrew Campbell (1-7=8) for second on the team in plus/minus with plus-13.

Campbell returned from an upper body injury on Friday, December 7 in Providence. Campbell had been out of the line-up since Sunday, October 28 missing 16 games.

Campbell was recalled by the Kings on February 6 and was reassigned to Manchester on February 8. Campbell was unable to meet the Monarchs for Sunday's game due to weather conditions. Campbell was recalled to Kings for a second stint on Wednesday, February 13.

Campbell's 326 games rank third on the Monarchs all-time games played list.

Center Andrei Loktionov (7-15=22) is in fifth place on the Monarchs with 22 points.

Loktionov was traded to the New Jersey Devils on Thursday, February 7 for a fifth round selection in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

Center Jordan Weal (8-12=20) is sixth on the Monarchs with 20 points.

Weal has seven goals and eight assists for 15 points in his last 20 games.

Weal scored in back-to-back games for the first time in his professional career with goals on January 5 and January 11.

Left wing Marc-Andre Cliche (8-9=17) is tied with left wing Dwight King (5-12=17) for seventh on the Monarchs with 17 points each.

Cliche had surgery on Monday, February 4 and is expected to be out of the line-up for an extended period of time.

Cliche ranks second on the Monarchs all-time games played list with 329.

Cliche has scored 66 goals in his career with the Monarchs which is tied for seventh place on the franchise's all-time goals scored list.

Cliche ranks ninth on the Monarchs all-time points list with 148 and ranks ninth on the franchise's all-time assist list with 82.

King was recalled by the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday, January 15.

Defenseman Slava Voynov (7-9=16) is tied with defenseman Nick Deslauriers (3-13=16) ninth on the Monarchs with 16 points.

Voynov's seven goals lead team defensemen.

Voynov rejoined the Kings on Tuesday, January 15.

Deslauriers leads Monarchs defensemen with 13 assists this season.

Right wing Stefan Legein (3-11=14) is tied with defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk (3-11=14) and defenseman David Kolomatis (4-10=14) for 11th place on the Monarchs with 14 points each.

Center Andy Andreoff (6-7=13) is in 14th place on the Monarchs with 13 points.

Five points (2-3=5) of Andreoff's 13 this season came during the month of January.

Three of Kolomatis' four goals this season have come when the team was on a power play.

Kolomatis returned to the Monarchs line-up on Friday, December 28 after missing 23 games due to injury.

Defenseman Thomas Hickey (3-9=12) are tied for 15th place on the Monarchs with 12 points.

Hickey was picked up off waivers by the New York Islanders on Tuesday, January 15.

Defenseman Bryan Rodney (3-8=11) is tied with defenseman Jake Muzzin (2-9=11) is tied with for 15th place on the Monarchs with 11 points each.

Muzzin was recalled by the Kings on Sunday, January 13.

Left wing Colton Yellow Horn (3-6=9) and right wing Brian O'Neill (2-7=9) are tied for 18th place on the Monarchs with nine points each.

Yellow Horn had a four-game point streak (1-4=5) snapped in a 3-2 loss to the Connecticut Whale on Sunday, February 17.

Yellow Horn tallied his first AHL point, an assist, in his AHL debut on Sunday, February 10.

Yellow Horn tallied his first AHL goal on Tuesday, February 12.

Yellow Horn has nine points (3-6=9) in eight games with the Monarchs.

Yellow Horn has tallied at least a point in all but one game with the Monarchs and is currently on a three-game point streak (2-2=4).

Six points (1-5=6) of O'Neill's nine this season came during the month of January.

O'Neill missed this past weekend's games due to a lower body injury.

Left wing Richard Clune (2-5=7) is in 20th place on the Monarchs with seven points.

Clune led the team with 98 penalty minutes.

Clune's 786 penalty minutes rank second on the Monarchs all-time career penalty minutes list.

Clune was picked up off waivers by the Nashville Predators on Tuesday, January 15.

Left wing Jordan Nolan (2-4=6) is in 21st place on the Monarchs with six points.

Nolan was recalled by the Kings on Sunday, January 13.

Left wing David Meckler (2-3=5) is tied with defenseman Vincent LoVerde (1-4=5) for 22nd place on the Monarchs with five points.

Meckler tallied his second goal of the season in a 3-2 loss against the Bruins on Sunday, February 10.

Meckler's goal was the 76th tally of his Monarchs career ranking second on the franchise all-time list.

Meckler holds the franchise record for games played with 371 in a Monarchs uniform. Meckler's 350th game came against the Pirates on Sunday, November 25.

LoVerde tallied his first AHL goal in a 4-1 loss to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on Friday, February 1.

LoVerde scored on Penguins netminder Jeff Zatkoff who is a former teammate of LoVerde's while they played for the NCAA's Miami University (Ohio) Redhawks.

The Monarchs signed LoVerde to a professional tryout agreement on Wednesday, January 9.

Defenseman Chris Huxley (0-4=4) and right wing Anthony Stewart (3-1=4) are tied for 24th on the Monarchs with four points each.

Huxley made his Monarchs and AHL debut in a 3-0 victory over the Bruins on Wednesday, January 23.

Huxley tallied his first AHL point, an assist, in a 4-1 loss to the Penguins on Friday, February 1.

Huxley had a three-game point and assist streak snapped on Tuesday, February 12.

Huxley has a plus/minus of plus-4 through his first 13 games with the Monarchs.

The Monarchs signed Huxley to a professional tryout agreement on Tuesday, January 22.

The Kings picked up Stewart along with a draft pick from the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for right wing Kevin Westgath on Sunday, January 13. Stewart cleared waivers and joined the Monarchs on Tuesday, January 22.

Center Robbie Czarnik (3-0=3) is in 25th place on the Monarchs with three points.

Right wing Justin Johnson (0-0=0) has 19 penalty minutes in 11 games this season. Last season, Johnson had 187 penalty minutes in 41 games.

Left wing Hunter Bishop (0-0=0) made his Monarchs debut on Friday, February 22 against the Sharks.

Defenseman Matt Case (0-0=0) made his Monarchs debut against the Pirates on Sunday, February 24.

Goaltender Martin Jones (14-19-3) has a 2.55 goals-against-average, a 0.917 save percentage and has stopped 1003-of-1094 shots attempted in 36 games this season.

Jones appeared in his 100th game in a Monarchs uniform in a 3-2 shootout loss against the Springfield Falcons on Sunday, December 16.

Goaltender Peter Mannino (10-7-0) has a 2.47 goal-against-average and a 0.919 save percentage in 20 games this season.

Netminder Jean-Francois Berube (0-1-0) made his season debut in relief of Mannino on Tuesday, January 15 making 13 saves on 17 shots while recording the loss for the Monarchs.
