LAST WEEK'S HIGHLIGHTS
At Hartford (3/22): The Manchester Monarchs were unable to collect a point to clinch a playoff spot in the 2006 Calder Cup playoffs as the Hartford Wolf Pack skated away with a 3-1 victory at the Hartford Civic Center on Wednesday afternoon. Defenseman Joe Rullier scored his first goal since being loaned to the Monarchs from Hartford. The Wolf Pack collected goals from right wing Colby Genoway, center Dwight Helminen and left wing Nigel Dawes for the 3-1 win. Monarchs goaltender Barry Brust took the loss with 22 saves. Wolf Pack goaltender Al Montoya stopped 33 shots for his 20th win of the season. Manchester went 1-for-9 on the power play. Hartford was 2-for-7 with the man advantage.

Vs. Bridgeport (3/24): The Manchester Monarchs clinched their fifth consecutive playoff berth with a 2-1 shootout victory against the Bridgeport Sound Tigers at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Friday night. Right wing Alexandre Daigle scored the lone Monarchs goal in regulation and left wing Steve Regier collected the only tally for the Sound Tigers in regulation. Monarchs goaltender Adam Hauser stopped 29 shots in regulation/overtime and six-of-seven shots in the shootout. Sound Tigers goaltender Wade Dubielewicz made 32 saves in regulation/overtime and stopped five-of-seven shots in the shootout. Manchester went 0-for-3 on the power play. Bridgeport was 1-for-5 with the man advantage.

Vs. Providence (3/25): Left wing Shawn McEchern tallied a goal and an assist to lift the Providence Bruins over the Manchester Monarchs, 3-1, at the Verizon Wireless Arena on Saturday night. Left wing Noah Clarke collected the only tally for the Monarchs. Defenseman Ryan Gaucher and right wing Jason MacDonald also scored for the Bruins. Monarchs goaltender Adam Hauser took the loss with 33 saves. Bruins goaltender Derek Gustafson earned the win stopping 31 shots. Manchester went 1-for-6 on the power play. Providence was 1-for-5 with the man advantage.

3/26/06 - The Los Angeles Kings (NHL) recalled right wing Konstantin Pushkarev on emergency condition from the Manchester Monarchs (AHL).

The Manchester Monarchs (39-26-2-4, 84 points) are in third place in the Atlantic Division behind the Hartford Wolf Pack (42-21-2-6, 92 points) and the Portland Pirates (44-18-5-3, 96 points).

With Friday night's 2-1 shootout victory over the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, the Monarchs clinched their fifth consecutive playoff berth.

The club has sent 24 out of their 71 games into overtime and/or a shootout this season, winning 18 out of those 24 games.

Manchester is 11-4 in shootouts and 7-2 in overtime games this season.

The Monarchs were undefeated (4-0-0-0) on Sundays at home during the 2005-06 regular season.

Manchester is undefeated (12-0-0-0) when they score five or more goals.

When the Monarchs score only two goals, the team is 0-9-0-0 on the road and 4-13-0-1 overall.

With special teams, the Monarchs power play is ranked 26th in the League, capitalizing 56 times on 406 opportunities with the man advantage. Ranked eighth in penalty killing, Manchester has given up 71 goals on 426 opportunities.

Manchester has the lowest number of penalty minutes in the AHL with 1,117 penalty minutes.

The Monarchs lead the AHL in attendance after 34 home games, averaging 8,640 fans per game.

Newly acquired right wing Alexandre Daigle has five points (3-2=5) in his first seven games.

Left wing Noah Clarke leads the Monarchs in scoring with 38 points (12 goals and 26 assists) and is second on the team with a plus/minus of plus-12.

Defenseman Marty Wilford leads Manchester's blueliners with 36 points and his 31 assists top all Monarchs.

Center Connor James is ranked third in team scoring with 16 goals and 19 assists for a total of 35 points. His 16 goals are ranked second on the Monarchs.

With the departure of right wing Brad Smyth and left wing Jeff Tambellini, right wing Konstantin Pushkarev, currently on recall with the Los Angeles Kings, moves into first in goal scoring for the Monarchs with 18 tallies in his rookie season.

Defenseman Richard Petiot is tied for ninth among AHL rookies and 15th among defensemen with a plus/minus of plus-13. The 6-foot-3, 200-pound native of Daysland, Alberta's plus/minus also leads the Monarchs.

Right wing Petr Kanko is tied for eighth place in the AHL with three shorthanded goals on the season.

Goaltender Adam Hauser is tied for ninth place among AHL goaltenders with 20 wins, tied for seventh in the league with a 0.917 save-percentage and tied for ninth with a 2.61 goals-against-average.

The 6-foot-2, 194-pound native of Bovey, Minnesota, leads the league with a shootout record of 8-2, allowing only nine goals on 50 shots for a shootout percentage of 82-percent.

On the Monarchs all-time goaltenders list, Hauser leads the pack with 115 games played, 6722:58 minutes played, 59 wins and 14 shutouts in three seasons of play (2003-2006).

Goaltender Barry Brust is ranked ninth in the AHL with a 0.916 save-percentage and is ranked 15th with a 2.66 goals-against-average.

The 6-foot-2, 216-pound rookie from Swan River, Manitoba, is tied for 19th place in the league among goaltenders with 17 wins.
