MANCHESTER, NH - The Monarchs Care Foundation, the charitable arm of the Manchester Monarchs, netted nearly $40,000 from Pink In The Rink which was held on January 22 when the Monarchs hosted the Binghamton Senators at the Verizon Wireless Arena. The Monarchs recorded their first sellout of the season, drawing 9,852 fans to raise money for breast cancer research. The donations from ticket sales and the auctions will benefit the Breast Care Center at Catholic Medical Center, Dartmouth Hitchcock Norris Cotton Cancer Center and the Monarchs Care Foundation.

"Pink In The Rink was a huge success," said Monarchs President Darren Abbott. "The generosity of everyone in Monarchs Country far surpassed our wildest expectations. I could not be prouder of our organization as well as our generous fans."

"The Monarchs Care Foundation is appreciative of the efforts of the New Hampshire community and we are ecstatic to have raised this much money for such a great cause," said Kimberly Mueller, Vice President of Public Affairs. "Pink In The Rink not only raised funds for Breast Cancer research but also helped raise awareness of this horrific disease that plagues so many women across the state of New Hampshire and throughout the country. Monarchs Country continues to embrace not only our team but also our efforts to give back to the community and we are truly grateful."

During Saturday's game, Monarchs fans watched as the Verizon Wireless Arena transformed everything pink including the ice surface. The players wore specialty pink jerseys throughout the game while skating onto the ice during warm-ups with pink sticks, all of which were auctioned off through both live and silent auctions during and after the game.

Charlie Sherman from WGIR 610 AM and Greg Kretschmar from Rock 101's Greg and the Morning Buzz emceed the live auction following the game, collecting the bids from the nearly 500 fans who participated following the game. The live auction netted large donations from fans with the biggest seller being left wing Richard Clune's two game-worn jerseys which netted a total of $8,000, including a $500 donation from Clune himself. The fan favorite joined the auction out on the ice midway through the bidding process. Max's jersey also received a $3,500 donation. A total of 49 items in the silent auction, 21 items in the live auction and a portion of the ticket sales from Pink In The Rink netted nearly $40,000 for local charities.

The Monarchs host the Norfolk Admirals this Wednesday evening, January 26, at 7:00 p.m. at the Verizon Wireless Arena. Catch all of the play-by-play action of Monarchs hockey with Ken Cail on the Monarchs Radio Network WGAM 900/1250 AM and at www.manchestermonarchs.com.
