PLAYOFF PICTURE

The Monarchs (83 pts.) currently hold the fourth and final playoff spot in the North Division, after clinching a playoff position last weekend. If the season ended today, the Monarchs would play the Adirondack Thunder (89 pts.) in the North Division Semifinals. The Monarchs trail the Beast (86 pts.) and the Reading Royals (84 pts.) for second and third place respectively, and with a win tonight can find themselves one point behind the Beast for second in the division.

Regardless of seeding, the Monarchs will open the 2017 Kelly Cup Playoffs at SNHU Arena for Games A & B on Apr. 14 & 15.

SLOWING THEM DOWN

The Monarchs will have their hands full slowing down the duo of David Vallorani and David Pacan this weekend. Vallorani is third in the league with 82 points, on 32 goals and 50 assists, while Pacan is close behind with 81 points, leading the league in goals with 40 and adding 41 assists on the year. In their first meeting this season, Pacan scored two goals and Vallorani added three assists, on way to a 6-5 Beast victory over the Monarchs in overtime.

When it comes to goals scored and allowed, these two teams are as close as it gets. Brampton ranks 5th in the league in goals scored, with 3.67 per game, while the Monarchs rank 6th overall, scoring 3.66 goals per game. Defensively, Manchester allows 3.51 goals per game, ranking 20th in the league, and Brampton ranks 21st, allowing 3.54 goals against per game.

TALE OF THE TAPE

Despite the Monarchs playing 41 games within the North Division so far this season, only one game has been played against the Beast. On Feb. 24, Manchester saw their one-goal lead disappear at 19:26 of the of the third period, when David Pacan scored with the extra-attacker, to tie the game 5-5. Brampton wasted no time in the extra frame, when Reggie Traccitto scored just 23 seconds in, to lift the Beast over the Monarchs, 6-5 at SNHU Arena.

EMPTY PENALTY BOXES

If the first 70 games of the season are any indication of what's to happen tonight, there will be very few players in the penalty boxes. Manchester ranks 26th in the league, averaging only 11.66 penalty minutes per game, while Brampton follows right behind, ranking 25th in the league and averaging 11.73 penalty minutes per game.
