Manchester Monarchs News Release

MANCHESTER, N.H. - Manchester Monarchs Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations, Rich Seeley, announced today that the team has signed goaltender, Alex Vazzano, to a Standard Player Contract, and Thomas Schemitsch has been recalled by the Springfield Thunderbirds (AHL).

The Monarchs are the ECHL affiliate of the National Hockey League's Los Angeles Kings and the American Hockey League's Ontario Reign.

Vazzano, 26, officially signed with the Monarchs after serving as the emergency backup for the last two games. In his career, Vazzano has recorded a 2-7-2 record in the ECHL between the Evansville Icemen, Reading Royals, Fort Wayne Komets and Elmira Jackals.

The 6-foot-2, 201-pound native of Trumbull, Conn., played collegiately at Sacred Heart University with his best season coming in 2014-15 when he posted a 9-12-3 record, a 2.49 GAA and a 0.916 save percentage.

Schemitsch, 20, played in one game for the Monarchs after being assigned by Springfield on Nov. 14, and has played in four games for the Thunderbirds this season.

Vazzano and the Monarchs are back in action Friday, Nov. 18 (7 p.m.) when they host the Reading Royals on Olympics Night at SNHU Arena.

Don't miss Mullets in Movember on Saturday, Nov. 19 (6 p.m.), when the Monarchs host the same Reading Royals squad. Join the Monarchs in their effort to raise awareness about men's cancers, with proceeds from the game to be donated to the American Cancer Society.
