Monarchs Announce Roster Moves

MANCHESTER, NH - The 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, the parent club of the Manchester Monarchs, have reassigned goaltender Jean-Francois Berube to the ECHL's Ontario Reign. The Monarchs have also signed goaltender Ty Rimmer to an amateur tryout agreement and have released forward Kris Belan from his professional tryout agreement, Monarchs Director of Hockey Operations Hubie McDonough announced today.

Berube, 21, has a 4.32 goals-against-average, a 0.870 save percentage and a record of 0-2-0-0 in two appearances for the Monarchs this season. Berube has a record of 15-4-1, a 2.17 goals-against-average and a 0.910 save percentage in 22 appearances for the Reign this season. Last season, Berube collected a 17-13-4 record in 37 games including four shutouts during his first professional season with the Reign. A native of Repentigny, Quebec City, Berube also logged 2,091 minutes, posted a goals-against-average of 2.87 and a 0.907 save percentage for the Reign last season. Berube earned his first professional win in his American Hockey League debut on April 2, 2010 during a three game stint with the Monarchs at the end of the 2009-10 season. In five games with the Monarchs, Berube owns a 2-3-0 record, a 3.90 goals-against-average, and a 0.862 save percentage. Berube was drafted by the Kings in the fourth-round (95th overall) in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft. The 6-foot-1, 174-pound netminder collected a 32-7-8 record in 50 appearances while registering a 2.60 goals-against-average and a 0.902 save percentage for the Montreal Juniors of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League for the 2010-11 season. In three seasons (2008-11) with the Juniors, Berube finished with a 55-37-10 record, a 2.77 goals-against-average and a 0.901 save percentage in 115 appearances.

Rimmer, 21 had a 3.19 goals-against-average, a 0.912 save percentage and a record of 24-30-10 in 65 appearances for the Western Hockey League's Lethbridge Hurricanes this season. Rimmer led WHL netminders with 65 games played, 3,836 minutes played and 2,106 saves during the regular season. Last season, Rimmer collected a 31-12-2 record in 46 games for the WHL's Tri-City Americans. A native of Edmonton, Alberta, Rimmer was first among WHL netminders in both shutouts (five) and in save percentage (0.922) with the Americans. The 5-foot-11, 170 pound netminder collected a 17-20-2 record in 43 appearances while registering a 0.899 save percentage and 3.29 goals-against average in his rookie campaign with the WHL's Prince George Cougars for the 2010-11 season. Rimmer will don No. 39 for the Monarchs.

Belan, 26, recorded one assist for one point and seven penalty minutes in eight games for the Monarchs. Belan has registered eight goals and 12 assists for 20 points and 130 penalty minutes in 55 games for the ECHL's San Francisco Bulls this season. The six-foot-two, 200-pound forward ranks third on the Bulls in penalty minutes with 130. Belan has appeared in 68 career ECHL games registering 10 goals and 14 assists for 24 points and 146 penalty minutes for the Toledo Walleye and Bulls. The Florence, Ontario native played five years for the CIS University of Guelph Gryphons recording 58 goals and 41 assists for 99 points and 415 penalty minutes in 131 games from 2007-2012.
