Milwaukee Wave News Release
The Six-Time Champion Milwaukee Wave tied a franchise record for longest winning streak to start a season (9 / 05-06) Friday night in Kansas City after defeating the rival Comets. Final score, Milwaukee Wave 11, Kansas City Comets 9.
"It's never easy to win on the road, especially in Kansas City and now we've done it twice," said Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero. "This was a huge win for us and sure, we've tied the franchise record for longest winning streak to start a season and it says a lot about our team but, we're not satisfied in tying the record, we want to beat the record and beyond that, bring another title back to Milwaukee."
The Wave set the pace early in the game at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena with a goal from #77 Marcio Leite, who would add three more later in the game but the Comets answered back quickly, almost matching goal for goal in the first half.
In the second half, the Milwaukee Wave dominated the third quarter while the Kansas City Comets made things interesting with a flurry of sixth attackers in the fourth quarter and brought the game within two scores.
Milwaukee Wave goals came from #77 Marcio Leite (4), #9 Robert Renaud (2), #28 Angel Curiel, #30 Josh Lemos, #12 Stuart Grable, #16 Drew Ruggles & #26 Ian Bennett.
