Mke Wave Defeat Playoff Rivals Kansas City Comets; Advance to MASL Eastern Conference Finals.

After dropping Game 1 of the Major Arena Soccer League Central Division Championship series in Kansas City Thursday night, your Six-Time Champion Milwaukee Wave bounced back Sunday afternoon at UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena and won Game 2, 7-5. That Game 2 win forced an immediate 15-minute mini-game 3. That 15 minute mini-game ended in a 2-2 tie and forced a 10-minute sudden death golden-goal overtime. Milwaukee Wave midfielder, number 77, Marcio Leite scored the game winning goal.

"It's an absolutely amazing feeling," said Head Coach Giuliano Oliviero. "We know it's just the first round of the playoffs, but you look at the last few years and the Kansas City Comets knocking us out 4 years in a row. They have probably been the most consistent team in the league the past 4 years, so this was huge win for us. Absolutely huge!"

...winning the Major Arena Soccer League Central Division:

"This is a hurdle that we truly needed to get over, and we treated this series like a championship series. We haven't had the chance to play in the conference final because the Comets have been so good. To get this opportunity, across the board we talked about as a team and how all 15 guys dressed would have to bring their "A" game and everyone had great moments at times, everyone contributed and I'm very proud of the players and all the work they put in this year. We're going to enjoy this one tonight and we're going to get back to work on Tuesday, and start preparing."

...who would he like to see in the Major Arena Soccer League Eastern Conference Final:

"You know what, it really doesn't matter. Harrisburg just got that big win in Baltimore and they've got a lot of really good experienced players, technical players and they have good athletes. Their goalkeeper is getting hot at the right time and then you look at Baltimore, and you're talking about a veteran lineup and the defending champions. Baltimore finds ways to get through tough games and they have a well-coached team. It's going to be very, very interesting. Whoever comes through, you know it's going to be a tough match."

...on the regular season against against Harrisburg and Baltimore:

"We've played Baltimore really well and we've played Harrisburg once this year and lost, but either way it's going to be a tough series and we're going to have to prepare properly. The guys are going to have to bring their best to get the MASL championship."

MAJOR ARENA SOCCER LEAGUE EASTERN CONFERENCE FINALS. Date: To be determined. Tentative second round playoff dates are Saturday, March 18th at 1:05pm or Tuesday, March 21st at 7:05pm.

Opponent: To be determined. Harrisburg Heat leads the series 1-0 against the Baltimore Blast, with Game 2 being played on Wednesday and a 15-minute mini-game 3 immediately following Game 2, if necessary.
