Miracles Blow out Storm

(Moncton, NB) The Moncton Miracles blew out the Summerside Storm with a final score of 102-83.

Miracles began the game scoring there first three times down the floor giving them an early 8-2 advantage over the Storm. Moncton showed no signs of slowing down with steal after steal resulting in a ten point lead 6 minutes into the quarter and forcing Salerno to call a time-out.

Summerside began to fight back and tighten up the spread and it was a 3-point with 2 minutes left to the buzzer. The first quarter ended with the Miracles once again pulling ahead and finishing it up 24-15 over the Storm.

Storm's Greg Plummer came out with the hot hand and had the game tied up at 27-27 with 7:18 left to play in the second quarter. The lead was tossed back and forth between the two teams until they hit the 3-minute mark and Moncton began to regain control of the game. They pulled ahead with a quick 45-36 lead. At the end of the first half the Miracles were leading 47-37.

The Miracles continued to build on the lead they had going into the half and quickly built it up to a 20-point spread, 64-43 with 6:32 left to play. Moncton showed no signs of slowing up or giving up their first place ranking.

The Storm came out even stronger in the second half and the Miracles trailed by as much as 19 points. Moncton continued to battle back but could never close the gap completely.

Devin Sweetney led the way for the Miracles with 20 points. Isaac Butts had a double double in his first game with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Darrell Wonge also had 15 points for the team.

Avery Smith was the top scorer for the Storm with 17 points. Greg Plummer was right behind him with 13 points.

Technical fouls were given to the Storm's Nick Evans and the Miracles Darrell Wonge and Devin Sweetney. Moncton's Sylvania Watkins was fouled out of the game.

The Miracles play their next game at home against the Windsor Express on Thursday, November 29th. Tip-off is 7pm at the Moncton Coliseum.
