Fort Myers Mighty Mussels News Release

Thursday's series opener between the Fort Myers Miracle and Bradenton Marauders was suspended due to rain at Hammond Stadium in the middle of the fifth inning. The Marauders led 2-1 when the tarp went on the field.

The Miracle struck for a run in the first off Marauders starter J.T. Brubaker. With one out, Christian Ibarra tripled off the wall in left center field. Then, on the first pitch to Nick Gordon, Brubaker's fastball was mishandled by catcher Taylor Gushue and Ibarra scored on the passed ball, 1-0.

In the top of the fifth with rain nearing, Jordan Luplow put the Marauders up 2-1 with a two-run homer off Miracle starter Dereck Rodriguez. With one out, Connor Joe singled through the left side. Rodriguez then delivered a 1-2 pitch that was blasted over the SunHarvest Citrus lawn in left field and clanked off the foul poll. The homer was Luplow's ninth of the season.

After the top half of the fifth, the skies opened up and the game was delayed due to rain. After a 68-minute delay, the game was suspended and will be resumed as part of a doubleheader on Friday. The resumed game will begin at 6 p.m. and the second game will be 30 minutes after the completion of game one and will be played to seven innings.

Fans with tickets to Thursday can exchange them for any of the final three days of the season this weekend including Friday's doubleheader. For information, call the Miracle offices at (239) 768-4210 or visit www.miraclebaseball.com.
