Minnesota Swarm News Release

SAINT PAUL, Minn. - The National Lacrosse League's (NLL) Minnesota Swarm (2-4) will play the Edmonton Rush (3-4) twice this weekend in the team's first meeting since the 2012 West Division Finals.

Minnesota is in Edmonton tonight for an 8 p.m. CT contest against the Rush, and will return to Treasure Island Field at Xcel Energy Center on Sunday to host Edmonton on Dog Day at The Hive for a 2 p.m. faceoff. Live streams of both contests can be found on Swarm Vision by visiting mnswarm.com.

Last season, the Swarm and Rush split their regular season series, as each home team prevailed in overtime. The two teams met one final time in the West Division Finals at The Hive, where Edmonton walked away with the victory and advanced to the Champions Cup.

"We're not thinking about what happened last year. It's a new scenario this year: new teams, new players, new chemistry," Swarm head coach Joe Sullivan said. "We're in a situation where we simply have to play better and guys have to execute on what's being asked of them.

"We need to get two wins this weekend and get back to .500."

This weekend's games will feature the Top 4 selections from the 2012 NLL Entry Draft, three of which play for the Swarm: transition players Brock Sorensen (No. 2) and Kiel Matisz (No. 3), and forward Shayne Jackson (No. 4). Rush forward Mark Matthews, the No. 1 overall pick, currently leads Edmonton in scoring with 38 points (23g, 15a) and was named the Week #7 Overall Player of the Week on Wednesday. Jackson is second on the Swarm in scoring with 25 points (9g, 16a) while Matisz - the Week #7 Rookie of the Week -- is third at 22 points (11g, 11a). Sorensen and Crepinsek on the other hand, have made their marks on defense and in transition so far this season.

"Fans are going to get a really good look at this year's draft crop, and I think we're going to see two great games," Sullivan said.

Fans are invited to sit with their dogs during the game this Sunday and can receive a upper bowl ticket for just $12 with the special promo code: WOOF. The afternoon will feature a pre-game dog walk around located on the upper level concourse at 12:30 p.m. and a halftime mascot game.

Sunday's matchup can be seen live on Swarm Vision by visiting mnswarm.com as well as on SAM 101.5 FM in the Brainerd Lakes Area.
